Carine is a PhD student in the Injury Division of the George Institute. She is a registered psychologist and clinical neuropsychotherapist who has worked with mental wellbeing across the educational, community services, public and private sectors for over 16 years. Currently, Carine works in private practice providing evidence-based psychological injury intervention to adolescents and adults. 

She is a Member of the Australian Psychological Society (MAPS) and the International Association of Clinical Neuropsychotherapy (MIACN), and works as a WorkCover and CTP treatment provider. Carine is a SIRA approved medico-legal assessor of permanent impairment for mental and behaviours disorders claims under the NSW CTP scheme and is also competent at administering psychometric assessments. 

Her PhD candidature at the School of Public Health and Community Medicine - UNSW, is funded by the Research Training Program from the Australian Government. Her research is focused on young driver’s safety and injury by investigating psychological risk factors associated with risk taking behaviours as predictors of road injury. She is interested in analysing how risky behaviours change over time, using large longitudinal data sets linked to multiple health data (such as crash, hospital and death data). Her study aims to save lives by informing policy makers and road injury prevention programs targeting young drivers.
