Ruth Freed is the Head of Academic Project Operations, Australia, leading a group of approximately 50 project operations and clinical research professionals and is responsible for resourcing and the delivery of high quality research projects in line with TGI’s research strategy. She also holds a temporary part-time role as Clinical Trial Program Advisor, George Medicines on its hypertension drug development program.

Ruth has more than 25 years' clinical trial experience in the hospital, academic and pharmaceutical sectors, joining TGI in 2009 as a Senior Clinical Research Associate before moving into project management. Prior to this she worked for Australian company Pharmaxis Ltd on drug registration trials and as a Senior Drug Safety Scientist at GlaxoSmithKline, UK. She has spent the last 12 years predominantly working on large scale drug intervention multinational cardiovascular endpoint trials mainly in stroke neurology and is currently the Global Project Manager for the TRIDENT trial, a secondary prevention stroke randomised controlled trial in 1500 participants in 10 countries. In addition to project management, Ruth is an experienced people manager and trusted leader amongst her peers.
