LAUNCH Food The Foodswitch Program

Professor Bruce Neal, of The George Institute for Global Health, talks about how the Institute's FoodSwitch program is working with the LAUNCH Food initiative – a global challenge to improve health outcomes by enabling people to make healthy food choices.

The FoodSwitch program includes an app that allows users to scan a food’s barcode to get easy to understand nutritional information – delivering results for energy, saturated fat, sugar and salt and highlights healthier alternatives on the supermarket shelves. The FoodSwitch data is also helping government and industry improve the nutrition quality of the foods we buy.

FoodSwitch seeks support to scale the piloted program to 50 countries over the next 5 years. For more information about LAUNCH Food go to https://www.launch.org/challenges/food
