Education program to optimise fall prevention exercise prescription
This study aims to measure the effect of an education program on fall-prevention exercise prescription practice and fall prevention knowledge of allied health and exercise professionals.
Method
220 consenting allied health and exercise professionals will be randomised to the intervention group (education program plus access to web-based resources) or to the waiting list control group. The control group will receive the education program following the three months follow-up period.
Outcomes
The primary outcome, measured three months after study commencement, will be the proportion of older patients seen by the study participants in the past month that were prescribed evidence-based fall prevention exercise.
Secondary outcomes will be knowledge about fall prevention strategies and the proportion of exercise prescription strategies prescribed by participants to older people in the past month that comply with evidence-based fall prevention guidelines.
