Heavy vehicle study
This project aims to identify the role played by key risk factors such as sleepiness/fatigue, sleep apnea, scheduling and payment in precipitating a heavy vehicle crash. The study will identify cost-effective strategies to improve safety within the heavy vehicle industry.
Methods
The study design is a population based case-control study with the cases being drivers of heavy vehicles who are involved in police-attended crashes in NSW, Western Australia and Queensland over the three year study period.
