Distinguished fellows

Dr Cara Tannenbaum is a Professor in the Faculty of Medicine at the Université de Montreal. Cara works with researchers, governments, universities and stakeholders interested in gender, sex and health research to set priorities, identify implementation opportunities, build partnerships and translate research evidence to improve the health of all. As well as being a former Scientific Director of the Canadian Institute of Health Research-Institute of Gender and Health, Cara served as the Departmental Science Advisor to Health in Canada and has advised the European Commission, the U.S. National Institutes of Health, and the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation on policy implementation. Cara was appointed as a Member of the Order of Canada in recognition for her work in drug safety, women's health and sex and gender science.

Göran Tomson is a Professor of International Health Systems Research, linked to the Medical Management Centre at the Department of Learning, Informatics, Management and Ethics at the Karolinska Institutet. He is a Counselor UN Agenda 2030 at the President’s office at KI. He is a co-founder and a Senior Advisor at the Swedish Institute for Global Health Transformation at the Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences, and Co-founder ReAct, the international network to contain antibiotic resistance, responsible for coordinating the work that led to the Alliance for Health Policy and Systems Research now at WHO.

Dr Janine Mohamed is a proud Narrunga Kaurna woman from South Australia. Over the past 20 years, Janine has worked in nursing, management, project management, and workforce and health policy in the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander health sector. She was awarded an Atlantic Fellows for Social Equity Fellowship in 2019, and, in January 2020, was awarded a Doctorate of Nursing honoris causa by Edith Cowan University.

J. JAIME MIRANDA, MD, MSc, PhD, FFPH, is Research Professor at the Department of Medicine, School of Medicine, and Director of the CRONICAS Center of Excellence in Chronic Diseases, both at Universidad Peruana Cayetano Heredia (UPCH) in Lima, Peru. With >350 peer-reviewed publications, his work brings together epidemiological and health policy aspects of chronic non-communicable diseases in low- and middle-income countries, with an emphasis on obesity, hypertension, diabetes, and mental health.

Justin is a co-chair of the Steering Committee of UHC2030, the international multistakeholder partnership for Universal Health Coverage (UHC) and is a member of multiple World Health Organization (WHO) expert panels. At a national level in Australia, Justin is president of the AIDS Council of New South Wales (ACON). He is Honorary Professorial Fellow at The George Institute and Adjunct Associate Professor in the Faculty of Medicine and Health at the University of New South Wales, as well as a Fellow of the Australian Institute of Company Directors. Justin's training is in the field of pure mathematics, and he currently works as an investment analyst.

Michael Moore is Adjunct Professor at the University of Canberra, Visiting Professor at the University of Technology Sydney, is the former CEO of the Public Health Association of Australia and the Immediate-Past President of the World Federation of Public Health Associations.

Renu Khanna is a passionate advocate for women's health and rights. Based in Vadodara in the state of Gujarat, India, Khanna co-directs SAHAJ-Society for Health Alternatives (SAHAJ), a nongovernmental organization that focuses on health and education issues and works with children, adolescents and women. SAHAJ also works with movements and coalitions in several states to localize SDGs from a gender perspective. Khanna has over four decades of experience as a trainer, researcher, evaluator and policy analyst in India and is on the governing boards and steering committees of several national and international organizations and networks, including COPASAH -- Community of Practitioners on Accountability and Social Action in Health. She is currently a Commissioner on the Lancet Commission on Gender and Global Health. She is a graduate of Delhi University, India where she received a degree in economics in 1975 and completed a master's in business administration in 1977.
