The George Institute for Global Health - Australia is committed to connecting with members of the Australian community who share an interest in our research.
Experience and insights shared by health consumers (herein ‘consumers’) and communities is essential to our work, and our mission to improve the health of millions worldwide.
The George Institute is working together with consumers at all levels of our organisation – including, but not limited to:
- advising our research leaders, executives and operational support staff on Consumer and Community Involvement (CCI) strategy and implementation
- contributing to CCI initiatives within our research programs
- becoming part of research project teams
The George Institute, Australia provides infrastructure and support for consumers, researchers and other staff members.

We are keen to involve consumers and community members in a variety of ways. Several key roles have been established. We are open to hearing further suggestions.

Consumer and Community Advisory Committee
The Consumer and Community Advisory Committee (CCAC) oversees consumer involvement at the Institute. The committee works with key staff, including the Executive team and research program leads to provide guidance and oversight of strategy, planning and implementation of CCI.
Consumer panels
Health consumers offer their perspectives within research programs aligned with their lived experiences. They are key to developing CCI plans within the research program and the projects conducted within it.
Consumer and Community Involvement in health research projects
Consumers can be involved at any stage of the research process. The level of involvement will vary depending on the role and the type of research being done.
Consumer and Community Involvement (CCI) Program
The CCI Program provides advice, guidance and resources to consumers and researchers. The program develops and engages with the network, facilitates partnerships, shares knowledge and supports the CCAC.
