Dr. Gautam Satheesh, Research Fellow at The George Institute for Global Health, has been recognized for his significant contributions to global health. He has been selected as a member of the prestigious World Heart Federation's Emerging Leaders Program, joining 24 other experts dedicated to improving cardiovascular health worldwide.
This year marks the tenth anniversary of the program, which convenes accomplished individuals from diverse fields, including academia, civil society, healthcare, and the private sector. The 2024 cohort will participate in a five-day think tank seminar in Mombasa, Kenya, from October 28th to November 3rd. Following this, they will engage in collaborative group work supported by seed funding from the World Heart Federation.
In addition to his involvement in the World Heart Federation program, Dr. Satheesh has also been awarded the prestigious "Emerging Voices for Global Health" (EV4GH) recognition ahead of the 8th Global Symposium on Health Systems Research in Nagasaki, Japan. He will join 40 other promising young health policy and systems researchers, decision-makers, and health system professionals who are committed to becoming influential global health voices and driving local change, particularly in low- and middle-income countries. The EV4GH program will provide a ten-day training experience in Nagasaki from November 5th to 15th, 2024.
“My research so far has focused on understanding why health systems in developing countries are plagued by several barriers that hinder optimal access to essential healthcare. By joining the two programs, I aim to become a part of the solution. I look forward to collaborating with like-minded individuals in developing innovative solutions to achieve a common goal: universal liberation from health inequities,” said Dr. Satheesh.
